Dewcape recognises its corporate social responsibility and has been actively participated in various programs to play its part to change the future for the better. Some of these programs include:
SMETA Audits (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit)
In 2013, Dewcape was audited by SGS Australia as part of the Nestlé Responsible Sourcing Audit Program and have been certified in accordance with the ETI Base Code (Ethical Trade Initiative), SA 8000 (Social Accountability, International Code of Conduct) & GSCP (Global Social Compliance Program).
The ethical trade / social audits are commissioned all over the world and is aimed to certify corporation’s operations in the following areas:
- Business Integrity
- Environmental Responsibility
- Health and Safety
- Labour Condition
Habitat for Humanity
Dewcape has been an on-going sponsor to Habitat for Humanity International – A not-for-profit organisation providing housing for low-income families living in poverty. The charities mission statement is to provide families the opportunity to be healthier, happier and more secure, which leads to stronger communities that can grow and sustain themselves.
In 2007, Dewcape’s managing director Andrew Ishak partnered with Habitat for Humanity International to construct residential housing for an under-developed community in Nimadi Heights, Fiji. Dewcape supplied labour and a building team to construct homes for the people of the remote community.
Sangkhlaburi Orphanage, Thailand
In 2009-2010, Dewcape donated its time and resources to design and build an Orphanage in Sangkhlaburi, Thailand. As a part of a joint effort joint effort with the Missionary Initiative of the Coptic Orthodox Church in Sydney, the project enlisted the construction experience and service of Dewcape partnering with the local suppliers and overseas volunteers.
The completion of the project resulted in 200 beds, amenities, kitchen and gathering hall for the local developing community.
Coptic Orthodox Monastery Putty NSW
In 2009, Dewcape contributed its time and resources to the construction of a Monastery for the Coptic Orthodox Church Community in Putty NSW.
